Although America is most often regarded for its booming metropolitan cities, it is home to some of the most scenic roads in the world. Get out of your routine and onto the road with one (or all!) of our favorite road trips.
Discover the West Coast with the Pacific Coast Highway
Beginning in Washington’s Olympic National Park and ending in California’s San Diego, the 1,500 mile journey will take you through favorite cities such as Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, but the abundance of nature is what renders this drive truly spectacular. With breath taking views of the Pacific Ocean for nearly the whole drive, you will enjoy the entire length of the trip. Make stops at the natural wonders along the way, including the Avenue of Giants, Big Sur, and the Lost Coast.
See the South with the Talimena Scenic Drive
At only 50 miles, Talimena comes with no excuses! Drive along the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas over the Ouachita Mountains. Rippling roads deliver you to stops such as Panorama Vista, Horse Thief Springs, and the Queen Wilhelmina State Park. As there are no gasoline stops along the way, make sure your tank is full upon departure.
Experience Native American Culture with the Skyline Drive
This 100 mile long drive through Shenandoah National Park, Virginia is sure to leave you feeling enriched and enlightened. While it is ravishing in the spring and summer months, most will agree that autumn is the best time to take on this road, as the tree lined roads will then be brimming with fallen crimson leaves. Stretch your legs with a hike into Hazel Country or Dark Hollow Falls, garnished with mossy creeks and hemlock forests.
Brave the desert with the Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway
This route of nearly 500 miles will take you back in time to an era long gone. From Colorado to Utah, this looping road passes by dozens of museums, all of which are stocked full of dinosaur bones, fossils, and life-size models. One of the most notable is Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, which holds the largest collection of Jurassic era dinosaur bones in the world! If time allows, spend a night camping out in the famous Arches national Park for an incredible stargazing opportunity. This is also a great place to get out the motorbike for long, winding stretches between red rocks. A Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident Attorney advises you to wear your helmet and safety gear as well.
There is no arguing that road trips are an excellent way to clear your head, but they can also provide you with an entirely new insight and perspective on life– once you return, if you ever do!
